Can be planted in the spring, summer or fall. Prefers well drained, non-heavy, sandy soil and full sun. Similar to the typical tree onion but the bulbs are a deeper red and the top sets are slightly larger than most strains. An unusual strain that will sometimes produce sets in the middle of the stalk. Plant them where you intend to have them for a long time, as they are quite hardy. Delicious green onions with shallot like bulbs growing atop the tall stalks. The stalks can be harvested and used like chives. A perennial, bunching onion variety used like a scallion. The white onions with long tubular greens, one half to one inch wide or larger and 12-36 inches long. Instead of small black seeds, this plant produces bulb sets on the flowering end of long tubular branches. If left to their own design, these seed tops will fall over and the bulb on top will sprout roots in the ground to make more onion branches. Perennial zones 3-9. USDA hardiness zones: 3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Aprprox. 20 bulblets per package. Moderate watering.
